Gateway

A gateway, located in the gate building (which used to function as a granary), guards access to the hermitage. Women can only cross the gate 12 times a year on days designated by the privilege of the Pope Paul V. Men can enter the church every day at designated times.
A person wishing to cross the gates of the hermitage lets the porter know using a knocker or the handle of the bell.
While waiting for the porter, you can admire magnificent artwork decorating the gate building.
