Vault of the of Saints Peter and Paul chapel

The walls and vault of the chapel of St. Peter and St. Paul are decorated on with paintings attributed to the Cracow painter Jan Chryzostom Proszowski (1599-1677), a court artist of King John Casimir. It is a series of scenes from the lives of the chapel’s patrons. The painter showed, among others, the crucifixion and apotheosis of St. Peter and the conversion and beheading of St. Paul.

A separate work that is worth noticing is the high-gilded stucco ornamentation surrounding the paintings. According to some sources, their author may have been Paul Kotlarz, an artist (most likely from Cracow) from the 2nd half of the 17th century.
