Chapel of St. Michael the Archangel: altar painting

The altar painting depicts the chapel’s patron, St. Michael the Archangel on the Day of Judgment. The figure, dressed in a tunic of a Roman soldier, holds a burning sword, a symbol of inevitable punishment, in his right hand and in his right hand he lifts a scale, a symbol of righteous judgment. Down below, beneath her feet, the bodies of the condemned fry in fire.

St. Michael the Archangel was especially revered by the founder of the hermitage, Nicholas Wolski, whose tomb is barely a few steps from the chapel.
