Plaque commemorating John Paul II

Karol Wojtyla used to visit Srebrna Góra even before he became the Pope. He used to lead retreats here, among others.
On August 19, 2002, on the day he was returning from his last pilgrimage to Poland, after a helicopter flight to the Tatra Mountains, he additionally decided to visit the Bielany and the abbey in Tyniec. This event has been commemorated with a small plaque at the gatehouse.

Interestingly, the papamobile was unable to pass through the gate and it was necessary to remove the top beam.
